PROVIDING MORE THAN JUST A MEAL

Meals-on-Wheels, Inc. of Greenwich fights hunger at both ends of the age spectrum — helping seniors remain safely at home and ensuring young children have food when school meals are unavailable.

For Seniors and Homebound Neighbors
Every weekday, Meals-on-Wheels volunteers deliver nutritious meals to seniors and homebound individuals who cannot shop or cook for themselves. Each delivery protects independence, supports dignity, and provides the reliable human connection that allows neighbors to remain safely in their own homes.

For Children Facing Weekend Hunger
Through our Preschool Weekend Meal Program, Meals-on-Wheels of Greenwich sends nutritious shelf-stable food home with children each Friday so they have meals when school cafeterias are closed.

Through these two programs, Meals-on-Wheels of Greenwich ensures that both vulnerable seniors and children have consistent access to the food they need.

Meals-on-Wheels, Inc. of Greenwich makes it easy to receive reliable, nutritious meals. There are no income or age restrictions, no medical referrals, and no complicated paperwork. For $10 per day, we deliver both a healthy lunch and dinner to neighbors who cannot shop or prepare their own meals.

Meals are carefully prepared and available with therapeutic dietary options at no additional cost, including diabetic-friendly, low-lactose, bland, chopped, pureed, and lacto-ovo vegetarian choices. All meals are low-sodium, seed-free, nut-free, and shellfish-free.

You can sign up for as many or as few days as you like. We can start with a few days’ notice. No contracts, and you are free to cancel at any time. Our goal is to enable the people of our community to live nourished lives with independence and dignity.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE

More than 10,800 Greenwich residents are age 65 or older — 22 percent of the community. Across the country, millions of older adults face food insecurity, social isolation, and difficulty meeting basic living needs, challenges that are increasingly present here at home.

Since 1960, Meals-on-Wheels, Inc. of Greenwich has met this need directly — delivering nutritious meals and dependable wellness check-ins to vulnerable neighbors, ensuring they remain nourished, connected, and able to live independently in their homes.

My husband and I drive for Meals on Wheels once a week. It does not take more than an hour or so to deliver meals, and feels like we are supporting our community. We also get to meet and chat with some really nice individuals. Recommend checking it out if you have some time in your weekly schedule. Kirk Huffard

1 IN 6 PEOPLE IN AMERICA FACE
THE THREAT OF HUNGER

Great advances of medicine have extended our average life expectancy to a record high of 77.28 years. Living longer means more years spent in the struggles that accompany old age. Add to that the increase in geographic mobility of our families and the result is millions of home-bound individuals needing help with daily nutritious meals.
