PROVIDING MORE THAN JUST A MEAL

Meals-on-Wheels, Inc. of Greenwich has become a lifeline in our community, delivering nourishment and compassion to seniors, homebound individuals of any age, and young children. Every weekday, our volunteers deliver more than meals. They bring hope, dignity, and independence to neighbors who can’t shop or cook for themselves. All it takes is a phone call.

Through our preschool weekend meal program, children at risk of hunger receive nutritious shelf-stable food to take home for when school meals are absent.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE

More than 10,800 Greenwich, Connecticut residents are age 65 or older, representing 22 percent of the community. Nationally, millions of older adults struggle with food insecurity, social isolation, and the inability to meet basic living

expenses – challenges that are increasingly reflected at the local level. Since 1960, Meals-on-Wheels, Inc. of Greenwich has addressed these needs by delivering nutritious meals and regular wellness check-ins to vulnerable residents, helping them remain nourished, connected, and independent in their homes.

Delivering meals to grateful recipients all over the town of Greenwich is one of the highlights of my week! The flexibility in the schedule is very helpful; the maps and directions on where to go for each destination are clear. Wonderful interactions, good work, feel-good results.

My husband and I drive for Meals on Wheels once a week. It does not take more than an hour or so to deliver meals, and feels like we are supporting our community. We also get to meet and chat with some really nice individuals. Recommend checking it out if you have some time in your weekly schedule. Kirk Huffard

1 IN 6 PEOPLE IN AMERICA FACE
THE THREAT OF HUNGER

Great advances of medicine have extended our average life expectancy to a record high of 77.28 years. Living longer means more years spent in the struggles that accompany old age. Add to that the increase in geographic mobility of our families and the result is millions of home-bound individuals needing help with daily nutritious meals.
